First Lady Erdoğan Pays Visit to Nigeria

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife, Emine Erdoğan, came to Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, to attend tomorrow's session of the Cancer Awareness Raising and Support Program of African Countries Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation as a guest of honor.

First Lady Erdoğan was welcomed at Abuja Airport by Nigerian Minister of State for Police Affairs İmaan Suleiman İbrahim and Türkiye's Ambassador to Abuja Hidayet Bayraktar and his wife. First Lady Erdoğan later met with Remi Tinubu, wife of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Abuja. During the meeting held behind closed doors, Tinubu expressed his satisfaction with accepting First Lady Erdogan's invitation and coming to Abuja as the guest of honor of the programme.

Sharing her belief that First Lady Erdoğan's participation will increase the visibility and effectiveness of the program, First Lady Tinubu also gave First Lady Erdoğan information about the African Leader Spouses Organization for Development, which was held yesterday.

Stating that his visit to Türkiye last month was very productive, Tinubu expressed his gratitude to First Lady Erdoğan for hosting.

First Lady Erdoğan Opens the Exhibition of Nigerian Women Painters

First Lady Erdoğan then visited Yunus Emre Institute in Abuja. First Lady Erdoğan, who was welcomed by Yunus Emre Institute Director Musa Erbaş, Nigerian Women Artists Union President Maryam Maigida and African children, opened the Nigerian Women Artists Union Exhibition. First Lady Erdoğan, who cut the opening ribbon with Health Minister Fahrettin Koca and African children, examined 12 works made by women painters and received information about the works.

First Lady Erdoğan later met with Nigerian children learning Turkish at Yunus Emre Institute. The piece "Katibim" was also presented in the flute concert performed by Nigerian students. Additionally, 10 stanzas of the National Anthem memorized by the children were sung. First Lady Erdoğan chatted with the children and was taken photos with them.

"Anti-Cancer Awareness Raising and Support Program of African Countries Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation" is a continuation of the event, the first session of which was held in Istanbul in 2016, under the leadership of Emine Erdoğan. First Lady Erdoğan will address the participants as the guest of honor of the opening session tomorrow.

"I believe that awareness will increase with unity of strength and heart"

On the other hand, First Lady Erdoğan stated in her post on her social media account that they met with Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President of Nigeria, in Abuja. First Lady Erdoğan used the following statements in her message:

"It is gratifying that the 'Awareness Raising and Support Program for Fighting Cancer of African Countries Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation', which is a continuation of the program whose first session we held in Istanbul in 2016 within the scope of the 13th Islamic Summit, is being hosted by Nigeria this year. I would like to thank Mr. Tinubu wholeheartedly for leading such an important issue in Africa for the health of his country and the health of the world. I hope that the results of the summit will be beneficial, and I believe that awareness will increase with strength and unity of heart."
