Yunus Emre Institute Takes Active Role in Promoting Turkish Culture in Romania
Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) contributes to the promotion of Turkish culture and the development of relations between the two countries with various projects implemented in Romania.
YEI continues its efforts to improve Türkiye-Romania relations and promote Türkiye.
Turkish has been taught to Romanian students within the scope of the "My Choice is Turkish Project" in public schools in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, since January.
YEI President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş stated that, within the scope of the project, Turkish was offered as an elective course in public schools in Bucharest, and the pilot application started with approximately 422 students as of January.
Stating that the Sister School Project and the projects aiming to increase cultural exchange between Turkish and Romanian students through student exchanges and mutual visits are important, "The project introduced Turkish to Romanian students Considering Romania's geographical proximity, cultural similarities and strategic partnerships, 1My Preference is Turkish” project is of great importance. In Romanian public schools, Turkish lessons will be available in every grade from the first grade of primary school to the end of high school." Ateş said.
Ateş also drew attention to the importance of cultural and artistic activities organized in schools within the scope of the "My Choice is Turkish Project" carried out by YEI in Romania, and emphasized that YEI is working to promote Turkish culture as well as teaching Turkish.
Turkish Teaching Project to Public Employees
YEI also started the 17th term courses in Romania within the scope of the Project on Teaching Turkish to Public Employees (KATÖP).
Ateş stated that the project provided Turkish language teaching to more than 5,500 senior managers working in many ministries, institutions and organizations in Romania, especially the Ministries of Defense, Internal Affairs and Foreign Affairs.
“My Guide is Turkish” Project
Within the scope of the "My Guide is Turkish Project" initiated by YEI, information notes, printed materials and audio guides in museums and historical sites in Romania were translated into Turkish.
With the project it is aimed to increase museum visitors in Romania and allow tourists from Turkish-speaking countries to visit them comfortably.
Ateş pointed out YEI's activities in Romania and noted that the successful promotional activities of the Institute contributed to the increase in the number of tourists coming to Türkiye from Romania.
